Skirts and sweaters for yustyle.com

Trend Report: Skirts and Sweaters

At Yustyle we love mixing different pieces and playing with clashing trends, especially in the transitional seasons. The skirt and sweater look mixes feminine glamour with boyish charm and is certainly on the rise as one of the hottest autumn trends for 2014. With its casual and girlie silhouette, practicality and comfort, this outfit will quickly become your new go-to trans-seasonal ensemble.
As seen on the runways in New York with Ralph Lauren and by Christopher Kane in London, the sweater/skirt combo is the stylish solution to banishing those winter blues and escaping your fashion rut this season!

Here are our fave street style skirt + sweater looks:

How to achieve the perfect flatlay! For yustyle.com

Create a flawless flatlay!

If you are anything like us here at Yustyle and addicted to flipping through instagram fashion feeds you will be very familiar with the ‘flatlay’ and its rise amongst fashion styling, photography and social media.
It is a fabulous and fun way to be creative with styling and show off your new products and outfits without having to take an awkward selfie or for those who prefer to be behind the lens.
Here’s how to get more ‘likes’ from your flatlay:
1. Brand recognition
It’s all about the hashtag # when it comes to brands. If you are featuring certain brands, especially popular or iconic ones, it is a good idea to create a hashtag as other users who search for that brand will come across your images and hence, more likes! Also, a crisp, white background will add to a more professional looking image.

2. Theme
Pick a theme or colour scheme and stick to it! Whether it’s bohemian-luxe, cream and gold, French vogue or monochrome it is crucial to create an aesthetic image that tells a story. Your image needs to capture the viewer’s attention immediately or it will quickly disappear into the blur of the scrolling screen.

3. Layout
Layout is super important as it creates a journey for the eyes. Some people like to look at very ordered, Tetris-like images, while others prefer a more scattered and less structured image. Whatever your style, you need to create an image that flows. Always try to keep your flatlay products in a square and shoot in natural light – less editing and instant upload ability!

 4. Personality
As much as we love looking at clothes, what we like more is looking at cool, creative people and how they style them. Social media is all about people watching people; people want to see you and what you’re all about. You will gain followers because of YOUR individual flavour and personality, not by copying others. Be real and be yourself!

The time I met Cara Delevingne at Coachella

Meeting the one and only rebellious and often controversial style icon and most talked about super model of late- Cara Delevingne is every fashion girls dream. Believe it or not, I was lucky enough to live that dream two weeks ago  at weekend 1 of Coachella!

Let me set the scene. It was dark, crowded, breezy and extremely dusty. It was day 2 of the music extravaganza and fashion-fueled weekend; the wind had decided to dance a little harder than everyone and menace Palm Springs. I was deep in the mammoth crowd of Pharrell fans literally 'losing myself to dance' with a bunch of my friends and a litter of über-cute 'meow' girls from Manly.

Funny thing is, I would never have noticed Cara bopping about in front of me with sister Poppy and gal-pal Sienna Miller if it wasn't for my boyfriends sharp eye for overtly bushy eyebrows - the famous Delevingne trademark.

As soon as he leant down and told me, naturally I immediately turned into a giddy, star-struck school-girl and proceeded to boogie my way to the front-right of the ladies in order to confirm the momentary sighting. And yep! Affirmative. It. Was. Her!

I'm usually quite shy around celebs and like to leave them to their business, but this time I embraced the YOLO ethos and went with the bandaid approach - quick and shameless. I approached them, introduced myself and mentioned I was a huge fan.....and disappointingly, that was it. No Instagram selfies, no autographs, no dancing like a goofball to 'Get lucky' alongside them (sad face). I mean they were friendly but I totally respected their lack of enthusiasm for me.

As a massive fan that had noticed them in a heaving crowd of party animals and had scurried back to inform and boast to my new whiskered friends - I completely understood when the trendy trio swiftly snaked their way through the crowd to escape the potential stampede of alike, Cara-obsessed followers.

So unfortunately I have no photographic evidence or a momento from Cara herself, but the memory will live on inside me forever - just like the whirlwind evening in Hollywood four years ago where I met apl.de.ap from The Black Eyed Peas, Kesha and partied with LMFAO and The Black Keys.

Thanks for the memories LA! I wonder what you will have in store for me next time?

Florals in Fall

Just because the weather is getting colder and the days shorter, doesn't mean we have to skimp on fun, vibrant, floral prints this season . Autumn is the perfect time to mix transitional pieces and play with block colours and prints. I am loving the byzantine lace pullover and sunshower skirt from Ladakh's new Autumn/Winter 14 collection. Styled with these super sweet heels from Billini, this outfit is the perfect day-to-night go-to ensemble this Autumn.

Dutchee Dutchee

Dutchee Dutchee is an awesome fashion-forward boutique in the heart of Cronulla. The charming store is located just up the street from the picturesque South Cronulla beach and often has a fantastic sale rack out front! The shop caters for women of all ages and stocks the latest styles and fashion trends.

Dutchee Dutchee is owned and run by four beautiful sisters and their gorgeous Mumma and is honestly one of my faves, not just in Cronulla, but in Sydney. Dutchee Dutchee stock all of my much loved labels including All about eve, Wish, Sass, Mink Pink, Bebe, The Shanti Butterfly, Adorne and many more.
Obviously I love this store and have spent much of my hard earned dollars here (I swear a third of my wardrobe is from Dutchee!) But what makes it so special is the service. Not only are these women stunningly attractive; they are super sweet, always smiling and very helpful with styling/accessorising tips and feedback on garments.

The girls have a serious eye for style and have their finger on the pulse of what's upcoming and fresh in the industry, so you can't go wrong! This store has never disappointed me and I highly recommend you check it out if you are ever in Cronulla! For a positively enjoyable retail experience go say hi to the girls of Dutchee Dutchee! I know where I’ll be getting my outfits for Coachella this year!

Please visit Dutchee Dutchee in store or on facebook and instagram! p.s. they always have aweosme comps and give-aways on social media so get liking and following!! @dutcheedutchee
